Reason for the disappearances: An open letter after the rapture

Dear Friend,

I wrote this just in case my Savior has already come back and you need to know some answers. I can just imagine how the world is chaotic now (it is already chaotic at this point), but do not despair. Have hope. There is an answer. These disappearances have a reason, and I believe I am one of those who have disappeared. I wrote this before all of these happened, and I hope you will find the answers that you are looking for.

WHO IS YOUR GOD?

God refers to “the Supreme Being and principal object of faith.” For Christians, God is our Maker, the Director of our lives, our Best friend (through Jesus), our Beginning and End. It is important to have a clear notion of who your God is because it determines how you live your life, how you view your relationships, how you set your goals, how you undermine difficulties. God (or lack of one) in a person’s life greatly affects his total being.

WHO IS MY GOD?

  1. My God is the God of the Bible.
  2. My God created the Heavens and the Earth
  3. My God has different attributes – He is kind, good, justice, love, mercy, grace, immeasurable, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent.
  4. My God loves me.
  5. My God died for me to save me from my own sins
  6. My God is three in one – Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit

HOW DO YOU LIVE WITH A GOD?

The God of the Bible made us and allowed us to enjoy this life that he has given us. However, because of free will, we are free to choose which path to take in this life, and our God has an enemy who lures us away from our God’s perfect plan.

To live with a God means to trust him with your life on the basis that He made you and He loves you. He doesn’t want for you to be destroyed. He has great plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11). To love with a God means to be under His authority, yet enjoy a fellowship with Him. He is a King, but an approachable one. A Father. A Friend. A Teacher. He is not some monarchy that you can view from afar. Our King is a personal King.

To live a life with God means to surrender everything you have to His authority, to walk in his statutes, to obey his commandments, knowing that it is for the good.

In Leviticus 18, the Israelites (God’s chosen people) just came from a long life of servitude under the Egyptians and they might have been influenced by the way they live. In addition, en route the promised land, they will also encounter a new culture that DIFFERS from the way that God wants them to live. Due to this, God warned them and gave them a command not to follow the ways of these people who has different gods – gods and peoples that have different practices like child sacrifice (v. 21), homosexuality (v. 22), adultery (v. 20), having sex with animals (v. 23). These are abomination in the eyes of God because God designed us and he knows how we should function, and he knows what is good for us. It is saddening to see that we are in a fallen world because of these abominations. In these times, we can really see that “25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.” With all these wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, bombings, etc, it is as if we are destroying our own race. With all the calamities, we are like being eliminated by nature. Men and women turned to evil and we are reaping the consequences – diseases, tragedies, pain and suffering. The world is turning evil by the minute and it seems unstoppable… but it will stop. JESUS will come back again. JESUS will come back as a judge. He will take His people with him, and after that there will be 7 years… 7 years of great tribulation… of suffering. Some will still be saved during that times, but there are many who will choose to live an easier life. Then, the final battle of good and evil will come, and GOD – the TRUE GOD –  will win.

So to you, who is reading this, know that JESUS came to this broken world more than 2000 years ago to save YOU from the consequences of your sins. He longs to have a personal relationship with you. He longs for you to acknowledge the TRUE GOD in your life, for you to live according to His will. It is the only way to be saved. ACCEPT THE LOVE AND SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST AT THE CROSS OF CALVARY. ACCEPT HIM IN YOUR HEART. ACCEPT HIM AS YOUR LORD AND PERSONAL SAVIOR. REPENT FROM YOUR SINS. SIN NO MORE. LET GOD TAKE OVER. The path maybe difficult, but it will be worth it in the end.

You need God more than you imagine. He loves you more than you know.

Our God is not dead. He is surely alive. Let Him live in you, my friend. Turn to the Bible. Be transformed.

Love,

Levi – a sinner, saved by grace.

Leviticus 18

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the Lord your God.

After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.

Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the Lord your God.

Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.

___

20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour’s wife, to defile thyself with her.

21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.

22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:

25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:

27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)

28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.

29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God.

IRONIC.

One single word that describes my 2014. Here’s a background of what I have been through the past year. Well, maybe, irony may seem to be a good thing.

#——-#——–#——-#——-#——#——#—–#—–#—–#—-#

Removal of Sweetness. The first blow of 2014 came when I was diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (DM2) in January. I was confined in the hospital for a couple of days, and a not-so-sensitive-doctor told me the bad news that sad night of January 2014. What I really heard from her is “you will have it for life.. you may have complications… when you get pregnant you will have to use insulin…”Pretty much, that’s all the scary stuff. I cried so hard after and I thank God for my Mom and sister who was there with me. 🙂

Sweetness from Another Source. So, after I learned that I had DM2 at age 25, I turned to who I turn to when things get bad.. my best friend Jesus Christ. As fragile as I was that night, I sang praises to him and he comforted me. Everything was going to be okay. (Isn’t my God the sweetest?)

Because my body was not able to handle the travel from Novaliches to Makati, I had to quit my job and rest for a while. Such a difficult decision knowing that I had a promising job at a big company already. But God has his own plans.. and following Him would lead you to where you need to be.

———

Hospital. If there was one place that I’ve been to majority of my time in 2014, it would be the Hospital. Why? Because I started working for Manila Doctors. It was one year that brought out the best in me… I believe. I have grown professionally and personally through the things my bosses, colleagues and teammates taught me. I am happier, and my happiness is a personal decision. Despite my physical limitations, I believe I was able to deliver what I can in response to the responsibilities entrusted to me. The highlights of my year was the 40.8% increase of volunteers in the first project I managed with the help of my teammates, boss and the whole Hospital. Then, our hospital’s CSR has become international with our engagement in the UN Global Compact. One of our dearest doctors/Quality Management Representative went to Bali and New York to represent us in 2 different fora meant to create international policies on business for peace and anti-corruption. It was also my first time to attend the Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. Biennial Convention. Our hospital was awarded by DOH and DepEd for its contribution to Yolanda Response (DOH) and Adopt-a-School Program (DepEd). For the first time in forever, we also won 3rd place during the Continual Improvement Project competition of the Hospital! Our volunteers also spent their saturdays last Sept, Oct and Nov to cater to teachers in Valenzuela and at our MDH CSR Clinic to give back during the National Teachers Month Celebration. Aside from that, we also finished the Total Wellness Program of more than 90% of the population of our adopted school. We conducted various trainings and workshops to equip and capacitate our partners in the school, community and even those inside the hospital. I learned how to do Family Planning counseling and I was able to practice it. 🙂

Most of all, I enjoyed the camaraderie we all have in MDH especially to my new-found friends Ms. Jill, Eunice, Ma’am Salvs, Ms. Angie, Mama Lisa, Ms. Maan, Sir Pogi, Sir Mel (Happy Birthday!), Sir Julius, Sir Art, Ma’am Sey, Rey (how may I help you), Donna, Dr. Ariel, Dr. Geli, Dr. Myrtle, Dr. Bernal, Dr. Cadiz, Dra. Weng, Dr. Collantes. The Dietary Dept ladies. Dra. Dindee and QM friends. Purchasing people. Ma’am Weng. Sir Ian and Mark, Kuya Rico, Kuya Jess.. People from LHS. Aiko, Paul, Josh and Arnel. Ma’am Jo, Sir Arvin and Sir Rowell (super thanks sir rowell ha!!!) and a whole lot more!

Hospitalization. In the same year, we had 5 hospitalizations with 2 operations in the family ( I was hospitalized 2 times, my 2 brothers had operations, and my mom had mild stroke). How can I say? It was one scary ride. However, we felt God’s presence in our family more. In terms of money, I thank God for Dan’s healthcard (it was a BIG BIG HELP). I also want to thank the kind doctors who helped us… Dr. Morales and Dr. Chua for Mama, Dr. Gene Chan for my brother. I also thank Papa’s health benefits that was used during my other brother’s operation. He was going on 20 then, and the benefits was only until he was 19. Less than 5 days before his 20th bday, he had the operation and we didn’t pay so much. Thank God! So you see… God is good all the time! God is good in sickness. God is good in times of health. Oh! My mom also had no major complications brought about by the stroke. So for me, that’s a major thing to be grateful for!

——

TWENTY FOURTEEN. 2014 was a tough year for me and my family. However, God sustained us. He provided. He cared for us. He kept us safe. He healed. He taught us. He ministered to us. He enlightened us. He gave us peace that is beyond understanding. He gave us forgiveness and we were able to forgive others. He strengthened us individually and as a family. He gave us hope. He gave us smiles and laughter. He showed us love. He was there. He is here… and that is enough.

TWENTY FIFTEEN. I am all excited for 2015 for I believe in my heart that it is a year of sowing and reaping. I have great expectations from God for my MA degree, for travels, for my work, for my family and my personal life.

Galatians 6:9 is my 2015 life verse. It says:

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Jesus, LIFE IN GENERAL, Soul, Spirit

Spoken desires to Someone

There are many moments when other people will tell me or my mom or some of my friends.. “ang ganda ng prayer mo (your prayer was beautiful)” or “ang galing mo mag-pray (you pray really well).” At some point, I do not understand their amazement on HOW we pray… for me what is more amazing is the ONE WHOM WE PRAY TO. 🙂

Early this morning, I had the great privilege to have an audience with the God of the Universe, and during our conversation, He gave me a great reminder.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I have come across this passage a lot of times in the course of my walk with Jesus, but it never fails to amaze me. So today, I revisited the meaning of these verses and I was renewed and reminded about the God I pray to, the God I trust.

Do you know the meaning of TRUST? BIG WORD!

Well, according to the dictionary, it is both a NOUN and a VERB. This means that it is an abstract idea that can be put to action. Yes, trust is not tangible like a book or this computer, but it can be exercised in the daily lives of women and men. The dictionary further expressed that TRUST as a noun refers to the “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something.” When it is considered as a verb, the firm belief is transformed to BELIEVE. You actually do something. You believe this reliable, true, able and strong SOMEONE. Thus, we can say that..

TRUST is a FIRM BELIEF PUT INTO ACTION because of the ATTRIBUTES OF SOMEONE WORTH TRUSTING.

The dictionary I was using also had a short note on the origin of the word. It says that the word TRUST comes from the Old Norse traust which cam from traustr which means STRONG.

This for me added more meaning to the word trust. I can only TRUST someone who is STRONG. STRONGER THAN ME.

Who then is strong? The verse says TRUST in the LORD.

WHO IS YOUR LORD? Well it can be a lot of people and a lot of things, but for me my LORD is known as JESUS CHRIST – the LORD of LORDS and the KING of KINGS.

My reliable dictionary defines LORD as someone who has power, authority, influence, a master or ruler.

Now tell me, who rules  your life? Are you sure that the one you trust your life to is STRONG? Is he/she worthy of entrusting your life to?

Definitely, it cannot be yourself. You cannot trust your own understanding. You cannot fully trust humans for your life.. we are all fallible beings and we are not strong all the time.

Once you know who to trust.. In what manner, then, do we trust?

The Bible says with ALL THINE HEART. ❤

This means everything that we have – our emotions, our being, our source of life (literally and figuratively).

By trusting with all our hearts we will ACKNOWLEDGE GOD IN ALL OUR WAYS… This means we make Him part of everything – our hopes, our plans, our fears, our joys, our pains, our dreams. When He is part of our life, He directs our steps. He makes the road easier for us because we are looking unto His strength and not our own.

So, when people tell me, you prayed really well… at the back of my mind, I know that my prayers are but a confession of my hopes, my fears, my gratitude, my love, my spoken desires to Someone Strong… someone whom I can trust.. someone who knows my heart.. someone who will direct my paths. It is not the choice of my words that are beautiful, it is the choice of my heart. I choose Jesus. Whom do you choose?

My Open Heart Surgery in Hong Kong.

1175012_10201685455919576_1595870650_n

My heart was cut open. Examined. The blocks were taken out. It was given a renewed flow of blood, and it was healed anew. This pretty much summarizes what I underwent during a heart operation in Hong Kong last August 24-26, 2013.

August 24 (Saturday)

The most ideal day to fly to Hong Kong was Friday. Unfortunately, I had work, and I even had to do overtime. Hence, I flew Saturday. With one hour worth of sleep, I was in the airport at 3 AM. My flight was at 5. Eagerly waiting for my first trip alone and my second trip to Hong Kong, I felt God’s presence stamped all over my pre-departure. 🙂

IMG_0475

During the ride on the plane which was about  2 hours, I had the opportunity to talk with the woman beside me.. and also her husband. They were a nice couple, and our chit chats were very interesting. Besides that, i was also able to commune with my Creator as I was high above the sky. Now, that’s one devotion I will never forget! God told me about Esther, and how she was called to be in her place of position to be able to make a difference in that appointed time. 🙂 I believe God also calls me to be where I am right now because He wants me to do something significant like Queen Esther to her people at that time of oppression of the Jews.

Talking with God high above the clouds gave me assurance that He was with me. So, despite the turbulence on our descent, I felt peace and joy in my heart.

971961_10201685530641444_538542616_n

I arrived at HK International Airport at about 8 AM. I waited for other churchmates to arrive so I can have companions going to the JIL International Center. I got my Octopus Card and had breakfast at Mcdo. This place was special for me, for it is the same place where I had my first breakfast in Hong Kong together with my whole family last March. I waited a bit for my co-YAMs.

IMG_0566

When they arrived, we rode a bus going to Prince Edward and eventually through many untoward circumstances, we arrived at the JIL International Center in Shek Kip Mei.

IMG_0509

My heart surgery started at about 11:30 AM in that place. Pastor Jerome Ocampo was speaking. I missed Pastor Bobot’s first talk. But it was okay. That day, God always reminded me of Romans 8:28, and I know He is in control. Here are a few things that struck me during Pastor Jerome’s message:

  • Do not be scared of testing. JOB had 2 years of testing. From super blessed, he became super mega over blessed after his trials.
  • We want to go through our issues, God wants us to grow through our issues!
  • Hold on to your fork! (The best is yet to come!)
  • If you trust God, you will have a gracious spirit like Daniel.
  • Complaining gets you stuck in the wilderness
  • Don’t belittle your job, if you are excellent, you will shine.
  • Joy is not a mood, it is a muscle. We must exercise it so the joy of the Lord will be our strength.
  • The best is not behind you, it’s right in front of you. The best is yet to come. The best for JIL is yet to come.
  • All you have to do is release the excellent spirit.
  • Even in prison, Joseph became the best. He shifted the destinies of nations.
  • Though you feel like you are in your Babylon, God has a promise for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

Sometimes, I really feel that what I am doing in life and in the ministry is insignificant. At that point, I was thinking too low about myself because of how people treat me. I felt that I was in my Babylon. But God promised me that Babylon is just a phase in life. He has great things in store for me, and He shall give this for His glory.

Other lessons or take aways from the Conference include:

  • “We talk about the second coming, half of the world has never heard of the first.” Oswald Smith
  • Your job is your ministry, your mission.
  • You are the temple of the Holy Spirit and nothing about you is “secular”
  • Missions is no longer about crossing the oceans, jungles or deserts, but about crossing the streets of the city.
  • Our life should shine so that they can see the Lord in us.
  • “My job is a holy, God-given expression of God’s call on my life to advance His Kingdom.”
  • Fulfill your mission, Fulfill your calling.

Pastora Cora shares:

  • “Pag ang Diyos ang nagbigay ng pangarap, nagkakatotoo..” (i feel like cryin again while typing this..)
  • “Wala tayoong binigay sa Panginoon na hindi niya pagyayamanin.
  • When much is given, much is required.
  • Vision Killers: Pride, Lust, Fears.
  • YAM is not personality-centered. This is the Lord’s idea. This is the Lord’s Ministry.
  • YAM – You are Master! 🙂

As God opens my heart to see what is inside it, I believe He was able to see my brokenness, my frailty, my disappointment on myself. I know He saw all my fears, frustrations, sorrow and dreams. I believe that God, during that time, assessed the current state of my heart, and He told me/revealed to me these things.

As he carefully saw the brokenness of my spirit, pastor Bobot’s message came like a breath of fresh air. His teaching was deep but simple. Huge but understandable. It was about the Holy Spirit. I have known the Holy Spirit. I must admit though that I had some notions about Him that was not right. I always thought of Him as a teacher  – He teaches you the right things to do. Yet, another side of teachers also include a disciplinarian – and I deemed Him as such. Having the fear of being a disappointment all my life, I also thought He was someone who would dislike me if I err. Pastor Bobot’s message was simple, but it struck me to the core. He introduced to me the Holy Spirit as a persona so close, so real, so in love with me. He is a teacher indeed, but He is also full of compassion and love just like Jesus and the Father.

As I anointed myself with oil in the head, hands and feet, I just felt really humbled that the God of the Universe would choose to live in me. Someone who could never be proud of anything, I just felt God so close by that I couldn’t stop from crying. God is here. I feel His presence. God redeems. God loves sinners. God wants us to be Holy, and He is there to help us to be holy. He wants to be Holy so we can be one with him. 🙂

The day ended with much joy. Though I didn’t have enough sleep, I felt my spirit energized. God has removed the clot in my blood vessels, and a new energized blood flows in my spiritual veins. 🙂

More than that, I was also able to eat at an all-you-can resto with fellow YAMs in Mong Kok! Along the road, we were able to see a group of young people having a concert in the street near the Ladies Market. They were singing Christian songs in Mandarin! What a way to end the day!

August 26 (Sunday)

I slept earlier than most of my hotel-mates during the first day because I was tired and sleep-deprived. Since my body clock has adjusted to my early work schedule, I was able to wake up at 5 or 6 am. I took a bath early and went out ahead of others. I went to Tsim Sha Tsui, the place my family and I stayed last March. I ate at Tsui Wah restaurant, our favorite Breakfast place in HK (only to found out later on there was a Tsui Wah resto at the 2nd floor of our hotel). Yet, I had fun traveling alone. :p I had breakfast with God and he told me about Isaiah 40..

15 No, for all the nations of the world

are but a drop in the bucket.
They are nothing more
    than dust on the scales.
He picks up the whole earth
as though it were a grain of sand.
16 All the wood in Lebanon’s forests
and all Lebanon’s animals would not be enough
to make a burnt offering worthy of our God.
17 The nations of the world are worth nothing to him.
In his eyes they count for less than nothing—
    mere emptiness and froth.

27 O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
28 Have you never heard?
    Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

There in a foreign land, I was amazed at God’s ownership of the whole world. Surely, He is God not only in the Philippines, but in every nation that ever existed, exists and will exist! My God is strong, and he can provide me strength to overcome the trials that will come my way. God is prompting me that I should trust Him and He will do the rest. 🙂

After such a filling of the body and Spirit, I tried to go to places alone. I still had time before the Sunday Service started. So, I headed to Prince Edward to see the goldfish market and the flower market.

IMG_0579

I got lost a bit. But, i eventually found my way. haha! I saw baby turtles for sale! I got caught in the rain, bought an umbrella at 7-11 and spent about 200 pesos for it! Whew. Sa Pinas, 50 pesos lang yun! hehe.

IMG_0564

Then, I went to the JIL Church at  Shek Kip Mei to enjoy God’s presence with my brothers and sisters in Christ. 🙂 During the praise and worship.. I will not forget ever what God told me. Thinking about it makes me cry more and more with gratitude even until this day. Well, God told me in His still small voice.. “Anak. I’m proud of you. You are not a failure. I am proud of what you have done. Though you feel that you have failed me, I am proud of you. Don’t believe the evil one. You were able to fulfill my desires for you in College and until now. Yes, you are not perfect, but you are not a loser. Great things await you.”

With that, I broke down. God telling you how proud He is! I am humbled. He reminded me of things I aspired and worked for to do for Him. Though people may not notice nor remember, He does. My God does. 🙂 This was the healing after the surgery. God moves! God heals! God is good!

The day ended with bonding time with new YAM friends – Ate Hanna, Ate Rhea Salazar and Ate Aimee who works for Compassion International (small world!). 🙂

We had ice cream at a mobile ice cream store! It was my first time!

We also had to catch the train going back to Yau Ma Tei. We ran all the way to the platform! 🙂 I remember Ate Rhea’s word during our running moment in the walk-alator, citing that the equipment helped us to run faster. 🙂 Kailangan talaga dalawa, mas effective. Hehe. (How I wished Dek was there as well.. Yihee).

August 26 (Monday)

Before flying back to Manila, i spent one more day in HK. I fulfilled some dreams this day! I saw a Panda and a Penguin! YEY!

I was also able to conquer a roller coaster! 🙂 I was alone physically, but I really felt God with me.

Saved Festival 2012

I SAVED the BEST for SAVED FESTIVAL 2012.

What an experience I had today for the Saved Festival 2012. 🙂 It’s amazing how God can use the minor details of our lives to speak to us. Hence, I am now sharing with you my experience just a few hours ago about God’s work in our lives.

Last week, I won tickets to the SAVED FESTIVAL, a Christian Concert with artists like the Katinas, Abandon, Paglaum, GloryFall and Desperation Band. I asked my younger brother to come with me.. So he did. We scheduled to get our tickets the day itself because it was a holiday. 😀 Supposedly, I was not going to the concert because I cannot come on time due to my work, but work was cancelled. Another concern I had was the money, because I was saving up for our Young Adult Ministry’s anniversary in Cebu. God answered that concern of mine as well. He gave us free tickets courtesy of Mellow 94.7 in DJ Ingrid’s show. So it was 2 Gen Ad tickets which actually costs 250 each.

Early this day, my younger bro and I had to do some housework. When we were about to leave, my Mom told us to bring along our 2nd cousin Kuya Green. I was a bit concerned that Kuya might not like it because it was a Christian concert. But I know, he also needs time out of the house.. So we went with him. We were walking out of the subdivision, when we decided to just use a car.

We arrived at Boni at about 5:10 pm. I had to walk back to Reliance just to get the ticket while they parked near Boni. When I arrived at Mellow, DJ Chris of the C&C Music Factory was there. COOL! He gave me the tickets after he called DJ Ingrid to verify. I was rushing out of the booth to get to my brother and cousin when I noticed that the ticket was VIP. 🙂 I was happy… until I realized that I also need to buy an extra VIP ticket in order to accommodate Kuya Green. When I arrived at the car, I explained to them the situation. I called my MOM, she said she did not have money to buy the amount of the ticket… What do I do?

I decided that time to buy a ticket for Kuya. I will just use my credit card. THANK GOD FOR CREDIT CARDS!!! 🙂 Unfortunately, when we arrived at the MOA Arena ticketing center, the system was down.. So I HAD TO PAY IN CASH. I withdrew the money I had left in my bank… and I don’t know if I can survive the rest of the week. Hehehe. I was a bit worried, but I know I can make it through..

When we went in, the food also costs much. The price range of food in MOA Arena is about 100 pesos for hotdog sandwich and iced tea. Literally, I do not have enough money. But… God assured me HE will PROVIDE. He provided the 1500 that night, He will also provide for me in CEBU. It was a good thing Kuya Green came with us… I know God has touched his heart too. I was personally blessed and also my younger brother. What’s 1500 compared to the whole experience? It’s a small sacrifice I pay…

At the end of the day I had so much fun. I feel energized and blessed. I know that God has great plans… and I am part of it… 🙂

I learned, or re-learned rather.. about LOVE, UNITY and GRACE. I learned more about JESUS.

So here are some songs that the artists sang that I want to share with you. be blessed!

For your LOVE LIFE! Wait! 🙂

Call Him… Maybe..

Image

When I was cleaning my room last long weekend, I got to see these previous name tags which I wore for various organizations and various events. I love events! If I had a real good camera, I’d probably volunteer to take photos. hahaha. but, sadly, I do not have one. So I usually do other things, which I am capable of and enjoy doing also…

When I saw these tags, I was reminded of the life I lived since College. A life I lived then with full reverence and faith to Jesus Christ. It has been a better.. so much better life compared to the life I lived before.. It has its ups and downs, but at the end of the day I found Someone who knows MY name, and knows who I really am… No pretentions, no make-ups, plain me.

Yesterday, and today.. I have been intrigued by a phrase in the Bible that says.. “who calls upon the Name of the Lord.” If God knows my name, do I know His? do I know HIM? All of HIM? What is in the name of God? Why should we call upon His name and not any other name..

I was watching Batman – Dark Knight in the local channel yesterday, and at the end of the movie, Gordon destroyed the machine which they use to call Batman… When do they call him? of course, when they need help and chaos is in Gotham.

Perhaps, calling upon the Name of the Lord is like that. We give our full trust to Him. Calling His name when we are in trouble… just like we called our parents when we were young whenever we become afraid. But I also think that calling upon the Name of the Lord is more than that. For me it means, recognizing that everything comes from Him. Calling Him and attributing to Him when good things are happening in your life.. Trusting Him when you feel like giving up. Being His child in good times or bad. Knowing Him in his fullness and majesty. That is calling upon His name. Can you call someone you don’t know? Who is God to you…

And here’s a song about God’s Name. Hope you enjoy this one just as I did when I first heard it. 😀

Is anything worth more than your soul?

Passion for Excellence vs. Passion for Power
From Max Lucado – The Applause of Heaven

“The desire to be excellent is a gift from God, much needed in society. It is characterized by respect for quality and a yearning to use God’s gifts in a way that pleases him.”

“…there are certain things you can do that no one else can. Perhaps, it is parenting, or constructing homes, or encouraging the discouraged. There are things that only you can do, and you are alive to do them. In the great orchestra we call life, you have an instrument and a song, and you owe it to God to play them both sublimely.”

“But there is a canyon of difference between doing your best to glorify God and doing whatever it takes to glorify yourself. The quest for excellence is a mark of maturity. The quest for power is childish.”

“Absolute power is unreachable. The pole to the top is greasy, and the ladder rungs are made of cardboard. When you stand at the top – if there is a top – the only way to go is down. And the decent is painful.”

“A thousand years from now, will it matter what title the world gave you? No, but it will make a literal hell of a difference whose child you are.”

“I guess when you’re a king, you don’t have to worry about being proper for the sake of status. You already have all you need. That goes for children of the King too.”
Matt 16:26
“And what do you benefit f you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”

Lessons from the SPERM and the EGG.

Lessons from the SPERM and the EGG.

“Salamat po sa Mama at Papa ko. Kung hindi po dahil sa egg cell at sperm cell nila. Hindi ako mabubuo.” That was the legendary speech of a biology student during her debut. Yes, that former BIO student was me. I didn’t intend to make anyone laugh during that night. I wanted my speech to be dramatic. I was DEAD SERIOUS when I acknowledged the fact that my Mom and Dad provided the cells which made me. 🙂 But after those words came out of my mouth, my family and friends laughed so hard that I was able to find those thoughts quite amusing too.

I happen to remember that moment when I was on my way to work this morning. I was reflecting on my current life status in terms of my career, my family life, my love life, relationship with others, ministry and spiritual life. It is quite amazing that I learned something from the sperm and the egg, that I wanted to share it with everybody.

Of course we all know that the SPERM comes from the guys and the EGG comes from girls. This is not bastos, it’s BIOLOGY. 🙂 So, let’s review how a baby is formed…

MOM and DAD make love (I love the term!).

[Disclaimer: I still believe and do adhere the purity of sex, and that it should be done only by married couples. Primarily because their commitment is for a lifetime. Hence, they only share themselves with one person for the rest of their life which minimizes the possibility of STDs and Broken Homes.]

There is a point in the love sessions that DAD sends a LOVE FLUID to MOM. This fluid contains a group of Sperm Cells searching for their ONE TRUE LOVE – the EGG. It is here our story begins, in the sperm’s pursuit of the egg. ^__^

Once MOM receive the LOVE FLUID from DAD, the little sperm cells in it starts swimming and finding the one (sometimes 2) egg cell awaiting her prince charming. But you know, usually there is only ONE SPERM CELL that can fertilize the ONE EGG CELL. How does it do that? We learn from Biology that there are millions of sperm cells swimming in the LOVE FLUID. According to some, it can contain up to 500 million sperm cells. TALK ABOUT COMPETITION! After these tiny SPERM CELLS reach MOM’s body, there are many obstacles that hamper them to go directly to the egg. It seems to me that it is like a test, a selection process wherein only the best remains… the best partner for MOM’s EGG CELL.

OBSTACLE 1

According to Tamar L. Goulet, Ph.D., the distance a sperm travels to be united with an egg is apporximately 6inches or 15 cm long. however, given the size of the SPERM that distance means 3,750 times the length of itself. That’s a long way to go don’t you think? But the determined little sperm cells… pursuing their princess.. continues to swim to meet her.

OBSTACLE 2

Dr. Goulet also notes that the place where MOM receive the SPERM is not very friendly. But because of the LOVE FLUID that DAD gives, it becomes a little friendlier. Oh Yes, DAD helps his little SPERM to reach MOM’s EGG.

OBSTACLE 3

Another obstacle proven by SCIENCE is the CERVIX. The Cervix is part a of MOM that comes after the receiving area. More like the gate of the EGG’s palace. The MUCUS or sticky fluid of the cervix does not allow abnormally shaped sperms to pass. One professor in the US that I’ve read about states that the LOVE FLUID contains many abnormally shaped SPERM. These are the not-so-good-kind. So, at this point they are eliminated from the love competition. Hence, a better chance for MOM’s EGG to meet her REAL PRINCE.

OBSTACLE 4

Miley Cyrus’ song “The CLIMB” can be the theme song of the sperm at one point. After surviving the cervix, the SPERMS need to climb up to the fallopian tubes through the UTERUS.  The Uterus is like the area of the castle after the gate, while the Fallopian Tube is the Castle itself, a passageway that leads to the Princess Chambers.

In the uterus, many sperms die while climbing. Dr. Goulet narrated that only a few thousand survives. (They were a MILLION not long ago). Also, there are 2 fallopian tubes, meaning two passageways and only one leads to the princess chambers. Some SPERM goes the wrong way and gets defeated. But there are a few with the GREAT LOVE INSTINCT that goes to the right path.. ang tamang daan! By this time, the surviving eggs are only a few hundred.

THE ARRIVAL

According to Dr. Goulet again, SPERMS during their whole journey transforms. The SPERM that started the journey is not the same cell that completes it. He grows more and more into the type of SPERM CELL that can fertilize or be one with the egg cell.

He and Dr. Thomas states:

Throughout this journey, the sperm are undergoing a drastic transformation. Freshly ejaculated sperm are incapable of fertilizing an egg. The newbie sperm must go through a process called “capacitation” within the female body. Chemicals in the sperm’s head change or are removed, and the sperm’s tail movement increases. “These steps help the sperm mature and render them able to fertilize an egg,” explains Dr. Thomas.

Once the obstacles make him who he needs to be, the SPERMS then try to find the PRINCESS in her CHAMBERS. The waiting princess goes out of her room and meets the sperms in the passageway. Many of the remaining sperms tries to win her heart. BUT ONLY ONE MAKES IT! 🙂

LESSONS:

a. WAIT.

Hebrews 6:15 (NIV)

And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

We can see in the story that the egg cell does not nothing but wait until she hears the tail-steps of the sperms. it is the only time she does some action. There are some points in our lives when all we can do is wait. Waiting for the promotion in your job or waiting for the right partner are just one of the few waiting period we encounter. we can see that after the EGG waited, the ONE she was waiting for CAME. So let us not Fret, our God is faithful!

b. PERSEVERE.

I CORINTHIANS 9: 24-27

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

The SPERMS knew their prize, and the price for them to win it. But, they endured every obstacle, and gave it their all regardless of the possibility of rejection , death or hopelessness. Are you in a situation that you are running towards your dream.. a dream of being the best in your profession, a dream of establishing a better ministry for the Lord, a dream of being deeper in knowledge and love of God, a dream of being recognized by your family, a dream of sharing your life with someone special? THEN RUN YOUR RACE. ENDURE THE TRAINING. GET THE CROWN. KNOW YOUR AIM. LET YOURSELF NOT BE DISQUALIFIED, even in the midst of temptations.

c.  TRANSFORM

 2 Corinthians 4:16 – 18

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

The SPERMS transformed during the process of pursuing their dream. They transformed for the better. Hence, we must also do so during times of trials and obstacles in our lives. We must strive to be better – to be renewed day by day. Your troubles has an end. Your pursuit has a goal. Fix your eyes on GOD that gives you the strength to endure. Fix your eyes on JESUS who did not give up on you. 🙂 This is the greatest motivation for an eternal goal of being the best for His glory, and making Him Lord of your life. 🙂

Heaven sends its love.

While I was on my way to Nueva Ecija today, I captured an unusual cloud in the sky. This past week, NCR, Southern and Central Luzon was very much affected by the continuous rain and subsequent flood. But, the photo was a very uplifting sight.. It feels like God reminding me.. us… that He loves us. We might suffer much from this fallen world.. But He will forever send His Love!

Praises unto JESUS!
